Around Pucon

Pucon sits near the foot of the Villarica volcano, and it seems that in this part of Chile one is never out of sight of one volcano or another, and often you might see as many as four at one time.
Tiny Pucon has scores of places offering every variety of "adventure" tourism, from horse back riding to mountain biking, to treks up the volcano. One can even access funds for their adventure from this convenient mobile sattellite linked ATM machine.
The best approach though is just to go out into the countryside and explore.
The tallest examples of the araucaria or pewen tree grow only on the highest of ridge tops. These trees were shot with a telephoto. It wasn't until we made the crossing into Argentina that we were able to get an up close look at the mature trees.
