The way out of Cañon Guadalupe was a bit simpler and more direct than the brutal "graded" road that we had taken on the way in. We only had to do about seven miles, and then we were able to get on to this dry salt lake. It doesn't look like much, but it was actually as good as a lot of the paved roads in Baja.
This section near Cataviña is a good example. When I went back in the summer of 2001 this road was much improved. At least on the bike you had a chance of dodging potholes.
Baja has plants and vegetation that are found nowhere else on earth. These Cardon cactus are a cousin of the Saguaro found in the American southwest. Their trunks are as big and as hard as tree trunks.
