of the Loa's tributaries, we visited the Aymaran village of Caspana.

here is characterized by the accuracy that the Inca masons were famous
for.

This valleys inhabitants
employ extensive use of terraces.
|
|
|
They also are herders
of llamas, sheep, and goats. The colored yarn tied to the llama's ears
not only identifies the animal, but also is symbolic of the peoples relationship
and dependence on their animals. It is placed there on a special annual
celebration of that relationship. Residents here use the same manual methods
to tend their small plots that have been used for millenium.
