Valle de la Luna

Also near San Pedro is an area known as Valle de la Luna. (Not to be confused with the Valles de la Lunas in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil etc.). This particular configuration was formed in part by a meteorite some 20 million years ago. It is claimed that NASA chose this area to test one of their robot vehicles because it so closely resembles the surface of Mars.
